The Alabama – West Florida United Methodist Foundation manages endowments to help secure the financial future of the church. An endowment is a fund that can be invested to establish a permanent source of income to support programs and ministries such as missions, scholarships, building maintenance, and other needs.
Donors or churches may set up an Endowment or a Trust, invested for the future ministry of the church. Usually only the annual income or a percentage of the market value is available to the church while the principal is allowed to grow, creating a larger income base for the future. Legal and compliance liability on the receiving organizations may be improved due to the Foundation’s oversight in these areas.
